Weight loss and the path to health and wellness is a very real struggle. Chris battled weight gain for most of his adolescence and early adulthood, becoming morbidly obese by the age of 20. Falling off and on the fitness wagon, Chris joined the only gym in town and embarked upon a life altering adventure. It was here that the training staff quickly recognized Chris’s relentless commitment to fitness resulting in a job offer. This opportunity would mold Chris’s outlook on life and more importantly his life-style.
Chris attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle, where he studied Recreation and became a Certified Personal Trainer. In 2006, left Maine and would spend the next 7 years traveling and training across the nation. Chris gained valuable knowledge and experience working for municipal facilities, in clinical settings, privately owned and corporate entities including the largest gym in the nation. Over the last 20 years, Chris has literally trained thousands of clients nationwide.
In his travels, Chris has had the opportunity to meet and train with a number of fitness Icons including local legend Tony Atlas, 4X time Mr. Olympia winner Jay Cutler, Ed Byrd “Godfather of Creatine” and the founder of EAS and World’s Strongest Man competitor Jesse Marunde. Chris carries certifications through ACE, NASM, ISSA and is an experienced Aqua Arthritis Instructor, with 20 years of experience.
Mike Cotton is a current resident of Auburn, Maine. A recent graduate of Central Maine Community College with an AAS Physical Fitness Specialist Degree, and is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, and an AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor. Born and raised in Coldwater, Michigan, Mike has always been active and participating in sports growing up and through high school. Having played baseball, football, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling, gives Mike a broad spectrum of athletic training to incorporate into the functional training which has become his passion. Years of training in the weight room, and punishing his body on and off the field, has taken its toll on Mikes body resulting in multiple ruptured discs, which required back surgeries, as well as shoulder and knee issues. This forced him to change the way he trains, incorporating functional training methods into his personal routines. Pilates, Yoga, Body Weight Training, Instability Training Methods and other disciplines now influence how he trains his clients. His experience working around his own restrictions makes him the perfect candidate to help you work around a chronic injury that might be hindering your training, strengthening prior to surgery, getting back in the gym post-surgery, or if you are just getting back to the gym for the first time in years, Mike Cotton can help you work toward your goals. Let’s make the you, you will be tomorrow, better than the you from yesterday.
